Matthew Ziff is an architect by education, training, and practice. He received a Master of Architecture degree at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia, and a BA in Philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He worked as an architect for eight years, designing commercial buildings and interiors, before going into teaching full time. He taught in the interior design program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for ten years prior to coming to Ohio University in 1998.
Matthew’s academic scholarship includes published written essays addressing issues of material and construction as well as design philosophy and criticism and exhibited photography. He has used photography as a medium for exploration and presentation since 1976.
Matthew is married to Katherine Ziff, an author and scholar, and they have a son, Matthew Benjamin Ziff.
